Florida Stars Gauff, Anisimova, Shelton & More Set for 2026 Australian Open
As the tennis world turns its attention to Melbourne for the 2026 Australian Open, USTA Florida athletes are once again ready to compete on one of the sport’s biggest stages. The first Grand Slam of the year takes place January 18 through February 1, and Florida will be well represented by a dynamic mix of established stars, rising talent, and determined competitors.
Leading the way is Coco Gauff, who enters the tournament as one of the top players in the world. The Florida standout continues to build on an already remarkable career, bringing poise, power, and championship experience to Melbourne Park. With Grand Slam success already on her resume, Gauff will look to begin her 2026 campaign with another deep run.
Amanda Anisimova returns to the Australian Open aiming to build on her continued success at the Grand Slam level. After closing out the 2025 year with back-to-back appearances in the Finals at the last two Grand Slams, this will be the year she is looking to capture her first title at a Major.

Former Australian Open champion Sofia Kenin also headlines the Florida lineup. Having lifted the trophy in Melbourne in 2020, Kenin knows exactly what it takes to succeed on these courts and enters the tournament with valuable experience and confidence.
On the men’s side, Ben Shelton continues to emerge as one of the most exciting American players on the ATP Tour. The Florida star’s explosive serve and fearless style make him a threat in any draw, and he will look to continue his upward trajectory at the year’s first major.
Sebastian Korda also joins the men’s field. He has found his best success at any Grand Slam in Australian and enters Melbourne prepared to compete deep into the tournament. Joining him is Reilly Opelka, whose powerful serve makes him one of the most difficult matchups on hard courts and a constant presence in Grand Slam competition.

Elizabeth Mandlik adds an exciting storyline after earning a main draw wildcard into the 2026 Australian Open by winning the USTA Wild Card Challenge in late 2025. Her hard work and determination have earned her this opportunity on one of the biggest stages.
Veteran champion Sloane Stephens returns to Melbourne after advancing through qualifying. The 2017 US Open champion brings experience, resilience, and composure that has defined her successful career. Martin Damm also earned his spot in the main draw through qualifying, continuing his rise and gaining valuable Grand Slam experience. The 22-year-old will make his Australian Open Main Draw debut when he takes the court.
In doubles competition, Florida will be represented by Austin Krajicek and Nicole Melichar Martinez, two of the top American doubles specialists. Both bring experience, athleticism, and strong net play as they look to contend for titles in Melbourne.

The 2026 Australian Open promises thrilling matches and memorable moments as USTA Florida athletes showcase their talent on the global stage. With a balance of youth, experience, and competitive spirit, Florida’s representatives are ready to shine under the bright lights of Melbourne Park.
