Kathy Rinaldi is a former world No. 7 and one of the top American tennis players of the 1980s and 1990s. She won three WTA singles titles and two doubles titles, reaching the semifinals at Wimbledon in 1985 and the quarterfinals at Roland Garros in 1981 and 1986. At age 14, she became the youngest player to win a match at Wimbledon, a record that stood for nearly a decade. Rinaldi earned WTA’s Most Impressive Newcomer Award in 1981 and Comeback Player of the Year in 1989. After retiring in 1997, she transitioned into coaching and leadership, joining USTA Player Development and serving as Fed Cup captain starting in 2016. Under her leadership, Team USA won the 2017 Fed Cup. Rinaldi continues to mentor top American players and shape the future of U.S. women’s tennis.
