Collier County’s Linda Mushock named USTA Florida Tennis Volunteer of the Month

Volunteer Aces General News Volunteer Of The Month

Linda Mushock has been a USTA League Captain since 2009, leading with consistency, passion, and a deep commitment to her team and the sport. Volunteering out of Pelican Marsh Tennis Center in Naples, Florida, Linda has built a legacy of excellence and camaraderie.

Her team’s recent achievements speak volumes. In November 2024 and again in April 2025, her Pelican Marsh squad won the USTA Florida 65 & Over Sectional Championship. In January 2025, they traveled to Surprise, Arizona, for the USTA 65 & Over National Invitational and reached the finals. That marked their third trip to Nationals, where they previously finished 6th, 1st, and now 2nd. They’re already preparing for a fourth appearance in January 2026.

Linda’s best tennis memory goes back to May 2015, when her team made its first trip to Sectionals in Daytona Beach. With only six players available, every member played in every match, and they finished second. “I was so proud of these ladies,” Linda said. “Their dedication and hard work paid off.”

Her peers are very appreciative of her and how she has shaped the culture in Naples. “Linda is not just a game changer, she is a life changer,” they said. “Because of Linda’s compassion, captaining, and coaching, the Pelican Marsh ladies have a unique bond of camaraderie emerged over the years, nurturing one another emotionally, encouraging each other physically with a bond of trust and loyalty.”

When she’s not on the court, Linda stays active in her community. She volunteers at a local thrift store, attends spin classes, plays canasta, and enjoys reading.

What drives Linda to keep volunteering in tennis is the chance to impact the lives of others. “I’ve had the opportunity to captain so many amazing women over the years,” she said. “Great teamwork does make the dream work. My proudest moment as a captain is when one of my players gets moved up to the next level. It’s so rewarding to see them thrive and be recognized for their hard work.”

USTA Florida congratulates Linda Mushock for being named the September Volunteer of the Month. Her leadership, sportsmanship, and dedication continue to inspire those around her.
