Seven Florida juniors took the courts at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center for the 2026 US Open Junior Championships, and one of them is still standing with a chance to add another Grand Slam trophy to an already remarkable summer.
Jordan Lee of Orlando, the No. 8 seed and reigning Wimbledon junior boys’ champion, has advanced to the third round in Flushing Meadows. The 16-year-old opened his tournament with a commanding 6-2, 6-2 win over Raffaele Ciurnelli, extending a junior Grand Slam winning streak that began at the All England Club in July.
Jordan’s rise has been one of the best stories in American junior tennis. At Wimbledon, he became the first qualifier to win the boys’ singles title at a major since Noah Rubin in 2014, doing it in his very first junior Grand Slam appearance as the youngest player in the draw. He battled past Australia’s Cruz Hewitt in a three-set final, 4-6, 6-4, 7-5.
His US Open story started before the junior event even began. Jordan reached the second round of men’s singles qualifying at his home major, beating a professional ranked inside the top 160 in the world along the way.
The Rest of the Florida Field
The Sunshine State sent four boys and three girls to the junior championships, a strong showing in a field that featured the entire top 33 of the World Tennis junior rankings.
On the boys’ side, Jordan was joined by Navneet Raghuram of Port Saint Lucie, Teodor Davidov of Bradenton and Jerrid Gaines Jr. of Palmetto. All three fell in the opening round of a loaded draw.
The Florida girls were represented by Anita Tu of Melbourne, Scarlett Fagan of Boca Raton and Yael Saffar of Plantation. Tu and Fagan bowed out in the first round, while Saffar advanced past her opener before falling in the second round.
For Florida’s juniors, simply reaching this stage is a testament to the depth of talent the state continues to produce. And with Jordan still alive in the draw, there is more to watch before the junior championships wrap up.
