Getting Started
No matter your age or level, every competitive player starts in the same place. Before you get on court for your first tournament, take care of two easy steps:

Signature Tournament Series
Beyond single events, USTA Florida also supports a handful of long-running tournament series held throughout the state each year. These bring players from all over the globe to compete. Check out some of them below.
Super Senior Grand Prix
The Super Senior Grand Prix Series originated over 25 years ago for senior male players 55 & Over to compete. The series attracts top players from around the US and overseas.
Les Grandes Dames
The Les Grandes Dames is a series of USTA Category II tournaments. Women ranging in ages from 45 to 85 from all over the globe compete in the series each year.
East Coast Swing
Started over 10 years ago, the East Coast Swing is a series of Men’s 55 & Over Singles Tournaments. The events take place at various facilities on the East Coast of Florida each year.
Florida Cup
Each year East and West teams form up and face off to see who will capture the coveted Florida Cup. Age divisions start with 35 & over, attracting some of the most competitive players.

How junior competition is structured by level and age.
Tournament Levels
Junior tennis is organized by level so kids always face fair competition. New players start with relaxed, results-based events, then climb through ranked tournaments as they improve, all grouped by age. Begin close to home and rise at your own pace.
Level 7 (Beginner)
These tournaments are great for the player starting their junior competitive career. Players should have basic match experience and have completed a number of practice matches.

Residency Requirements

Tournament Types
There are various types of adult tournaments for players of all types. Find out more below!
Age Division
Adult/Senior Age Division Tournament Tennis offers men and women the opportunity to individually compete in sanctioned tennis tournaments in five year increments, for example, 30 through 90. Age division tournaments offer singles and doubles categories. Most guarantee players at least two matches in each division with a feed-in consolation.

Frequently Asked Questions About Tournaments
The questions we hear most about competing.
Florida hosts thousands of sanctioned tournaments a year for juniors and adults at every level. Search by area, age group, and level, then register through your USTA account before the entry deadline.
Tournaments are entered online through your USTA account. Make sure your membership is current and the correct USTA number is on your entry, since a typo can cause problems later.
Results can take a little time to post after an event. First check that the correct USTA number was on your entry; if it’s still missing after a few days, contact the tournament director with the event name and date.
Junior tournaments are age-based events, from beginner-friendly levels up to state and national competition, where kids earn ranking points as they play. They’re a great next step after team tennis.
