Former US Open girls’ champion Marie Bouzkova of the Czech Republic won the Orlando Professional Tennis Series $25,000 USTA Pro Circuit event last weekend at the USTA National Campus, in the final defeating No. 2 seed Victoria Rodriguez of Mexico 7-5, 5-7, 6-0.

It was the top-seeded 18-year-old’s second title of the year after Perth, Australia last month. She improved to 10-2 overall in career finals on the USTA/ITF circuit. It was her second U.S. title after Hilton Head, S.C. in 2014, which came months after her US Open juniors title.

Bouzkova dropped only one other set prior to the final, coming from a set down in the quarterfinals to defeat No. 6 seed Chieh-Yu Hsu of Taipei 3-6, 6-3, 6-1. The Czech currently stand at No. 242 on the WTA rankings.

Rodriguez needed three-setters in the second round and quarterfinals to defeat Americans Whitney Osuigwe and No. 6 seed Chiara Scholl respectively. Rodriguez in her first singles final of the year fell to 7-7 in career USTA/ITF finals.

Americans captured the doubles title as former Michigan standout Emina Bektas and former UNC player Sanaz Marand, the No. 2 seeds, in the final defeated the unseeded pairing of Marcela Zacarias of Mexico and the American Scholl 6-1, 6-3.
