USTA Florida 2027-2028 Committee Term Applications Now Open
Want to help shape the future of tennis in Florida? USTA Florida’s committee application process is opening April 24, giving tennis leaders across the state the chance to get involved at the organizational level.
From budgeting and governance to leagues and public parks, USTA Florida committees cover a wide range of areas that directly impact how the sport grows and thrives statewide. Each committee is powered by volunteers who bring their professional expertise and love of the game to the table, and new voices are needed for the upcoming term.
The following committees are accepting applications:
- Awards Committee – To recognize excellence and celebrate achievements across the tennis community by developing and administering awards programs aligned with USTA Florida’s strategic priorities, increasing engagement and visibility statewide.
- Bylaws & Governance Committee – The Bylaws & Governance Committee interprets the USTA Florida Bylaws, reviews and prepares proposed amendments to be presented to the Board of Directors, Organization Members and Delegates.
- Budget & Finance Committee – The Budget & Finance Committee, with the aid of the Executive Director and other staff members, prepares a proposed budget for the forthcoming fiscal year, and monitors the financial situation of the organization.
- Grievance Committee – The Grievance Committee is responsible for enforcing the USTA Florida Bylaws, Grievance procedures, all rules and regulations and the standards of conduct, fair play and good sportsmanship.
- Investment & Audit Committee – The investment and audit committee’s role is to provide recommendations and oversight for the organization’s investment strategy, financial reporting, the monitoring of counting policies, the oversight of any external auditors, regulatory compliance and the discussion of risk management policies with the Board and management. The committee is responsible for working with the Treasurer, Controller and Executive Director to complete the audit each year on time and to update financial and investment policies.
- Leagues Committee – The Leagues Committee develops, enhances, promotes and administers USTA League Tennis for eligible players. The focus is on local competition with opportunities for championship play.
- Officials Committee – The Officials Committee oversees all sectional officiating duties regarding the recruitment and certification of all officials within Florida.
- Public Parks & Recreation Committee – The Parks and Rec committee’s role is to provide recommendations for growing tennis play at public tennis parks throughout the state of Florida. This committee also works closely with the Tennis Management Advisory Team to provide recommendations on the best ways USTA Florida can provide service and support to municipalities to provide tennis programs and play through the parks.
How to Apply
The application process includes five steps:
- Apply – Application window opens April 24 and will remain open until May 31
- Review & Appointment Phase – Applications are reviewed, and interviews are conducted from June to August.
- Announcements – Committee appointments are announced in three rounds, taking place on June 30, July 31, and August 31
- Training – Appointees complete training for Chairs, Staff Liaisons, and full committee teams. Those will take place January 16-17, 2027
- Term Begins – Selected candidates who complete training begins their term on January 1, 2027
In addition to committees, USTA Florida also offers opportunities to serve on project teams. These teams are made up of both staff and volunteers and focus on delivering a specific product, service, or initiative. Projects are authorized by the President and Executive Director and can range from a few months to up to two years depending on scope.
