A Weekend of Empowerment: All-Girls Tennis Camps Return

This past weekend, USTA Florida’s All-Girls Tennis Camps returned with even greater momentum. As part of the organization’s broader Women in Tennis initiative, these camps give girls of all ages and abilities a place to grow their skills, gain confidence, and connect with women coaches and mentors who reflect who they can become.

Fort Walton Beach Tennis Center

On Saturday, September 19, Fort Walton Beach Tennis Center welcomed girls of all ages to learn from women coaches and leaders.

As one of our biggest girls camps to date, the event hosted 37 girls ages 5-18 with skill levels ranging from orange to yellow ball, allowing both beginner and advanced players to connect and learn together. The All-Girls Camp featured on-court training and arts-and-crafts bracelet making, leading the participants through drills, games, and creative activities designed to build skill and confidence.

Lunch featured a panel with Rita Dotson (Women’s Coach), Catie Dugan Vargas (Associate Director of Development, USTA Mid-Atlantic / Girls Rule the Court), and Amber Burke (SMSgt, Air Force), who shared their journeys and the different opportunities tennis can open, in hopes of inspiring the young audience listening in.

These camps reflect a broader effort within USTA Florida to expand opportunities for girls and women in tennis. Since the All-Girls Camp began, the organization has teamed up with universities and community partners to reach more than 100 girls through camps across the state. As this continues to grow, 2026 is set to be the strongest year yet.
