Departments: Adult Tennis

Programs Served: Adult Tournaments, Adult Tennis, USTA Leagues

Julia was given a lifetime membership to the USTA as a gift from a family friend at the age of six and has been playing tennis ever since. She played Division 1 College tennis in singles and doubles for the University of Wisconsin for two years and subsequently Stetson University, where she graduated with a degree in humanities. Julia then moved to Brooklyn, where she earned a master’s degree in exceptional education. She found her passion for teaching in this field and taught for sixteen years, mostly in the Autistic classrooms of Orange County. Julia lives in Winter Park with her husband and two teenagers and continues to be an avid tennis player. In addition, her commitment to the special needs community leads her to enjoy volunteer work with the nonprofit, Motivate for Success Foundation, during her spare time. Growing up, her tennis coach was Wimbledon Semi-finalist Betty Pratt, who instilled in her not only a love for the game, but also a desire to give back. Julia hopes to share her passion for tennis through her work with USTA so that others’ lives can be enriched by the sport.
