Red Bug Lake Park opened in 1976 as Seminole County’s first public tennis facility and led the way for Seminole County to become a premier tennis community. Red Bug Lake Park served as the hub for the Central Florida hub USTA Area Training Center during the 1990s. The ‘Bug is home to many USTA and local leagues, junior tournaments and junior and adult tennis programs. It also teams with sister county parks Sanlando and Sylvan Lake to host the FHSAA championships, local, state and national tournaments, schools programs and tennis festivals and a major components in the USTA marketing initiative in 2007-2010 earning Seminole County as the USTA Fl and USTA member organization in 2010.
