Columbia County’s Mark Mansbach named USTA Florida Tennis Volunteer of the Month

USTA Florida is proud to recognize Mark Mansbach as the Volunteer of the Month for November. A dedicated teaching professional and volunteer, Mark has been a key part of the Lake City Columbia Community Tennis Association (LCCCTA) since January 2021. As an ex-officio board member of LCCCTA, Mark’s contributions go far beyond the court, impacting players of all ages and abilities in Columbia County. 

Mark’s passion for tennis and community service shines through his volunteer work. For the past three years, he has volunteered as a tennis coach for veterans from the local VA hospital, running free clinics twice a month. Mark’s clinics not only help veterans stay active but also provide them with a supportive space to connect and enjoy the game. A fellow volunteer shared, “Mark is very passionate about tennis and a strong advocate for U.S. veterans.” 

Mark’s dedication extends to maintaining the four public tennis courts at Youngs Park in Lake City. Overseeing the courts, he ensures they remain in top condition for community use. He also assists LCCCTA with youth tennis camps and clinics, helping to grow the game with younger players. 

As a PTR-certified tennis professional for the past 16 years, Mark finds immense joy in watching his students improve. “Seeing their progress is the most rewarding part of coaching,” he said. His love for tennis dates to his earliest memory of trying out for the varsity team at the University of Florida, and it has only grown stronger since. 

When he’s not on the court, Mark says he wishes he was on one. His dedication to tennis and the community is unwavering, making him a role model for others in the sport.
