Gauff, Shelton Headline Florida’s Impressive Lineup at the 2026 Wimbledon Championships

General News Pro Tennis

As the grass-court season reaches its peak, a talented group of USTA Florida athletes is set to compete at the 2026 Wimbledon Championships. The most iconic stage in tennis, will once again feature a strong Sunshine State lineup across the singles and doubles draws when play begins on June 29.

Leading the way on the women’s side is Coco Gauff, who continues to cement her status as one of the best players in the world. The Delray Beach native, a two-time Grand Slam champion with titles at the 2023 US Open and 2025 French Open, enters Wimbledon as the No. 7 seed. Despite her early success as a 15-year-old qualifier in 2019, Gauff is still chasing a breakthrough at Wimbledon, where she has yet to reach the quarterfinals.

Amanda Anisimova returns to the grass with unfinished business. The Florida resident and 2025 Wimbledon finalist, who reached a career-high world No. 3 earlier this year, is seeded sixth and will look to go one step further after falling to Iga Swiatek in last year’s final. A two-time Grand Slam finalist with runs at both Wimbledon and the US Open in 2025, Anisimova has proven she belongs among the elite on grass.

Australian Open champion Sofia Kenin rounds out the Florida women’s lineup. The Pembroke Pines native brings Grand Slam championship experience to every match and will compete in the doubles draw alongside Jelena Ostapenko.

On the men’s side, Ben Shelton heads to London riding a wave of momentum. The Orlando-based star, currently ranked No. 5 in the world and the No. 1 American, recently captured his first grass-court title at the Stuttgart Open, defeating Taylor Fritz in the final. Shelton became the first American male to win titles on all three surfaces in the same year since 2010, and he’ll look to build on last year’s quarterfinal showing.

Another Florida product making his mark is Martin Damm Jr., the 22-year-old Bradenton native who has been climbing the ATP rankings in 2026. Damm, who stands 6-foot-8 and plays left-handed, reached a career-high singles ranking of No. 108 in June and has been steadily building on the promise he showed as a junior.

Florida will also be well represented in the doubles draws. Austin Krajicek, the Tampa native, former world No. 1 in doubles, 2023 French Open doubles champion and 2024 Olympic silver medalist, returns to the grass at SW19. Christian Harrison, who moved to Florida at age 14 to train at IMG Academy in Bradenton, enters Wimbledon as the reigning Australian Open doubles champion alongside partner Neal Skupski.

On the women’s doubles side, Nicole Melichar-Martinez, a Bradenton resident and Wimbledon mixed doubles champion with 19 WTA doubles titles, will look to add to her Grand Slam hardware on the grass courts where she has enjoyed some of her greatest success.

The 2026 Wimbledon Championships promise to be must-watch tennis as USTA Florida athletes take the prestigious grass courts. With a mix of Grand Slam champions, a former finalist, rising stars and elite doubles specialists, Florida’s representatives are ready to make their mark at the most storied tournament in tennis.
