What are WTN events?
WTN events are tennis events where your match results count toward your World Tennis Number, the global rating that measures every player on one scale. That includes everything from casual, local match play to seeded, level-based tournaments. If you play in one, you get globally recognized results and a clearer picture of your game.
The best part is the matchmaking. Because WTN rates all players on the same scale, events can group you with opponents right around your level, which means closer matches, more fun, and faster improvement.
There is a WTN event for every kind of player:
WTN Match Play. Flexible, local singles and doubles match play hosted by clubs, parks, and coaches. Casual, welcoming, and a great entry point. Results count toward your WTN.
Level-based and WTN-seeded tournaments. Many USTA tournaments now use WTN for seeding, selection, and flighting, so you compete against players at your level. [Verify current Florida tournament levels that use WTN before publishing.]
Leagues and match play. Ongoing competitive play where recorded results feed your rating.

Quick primer: the World Tennis Number
New to WTN? Here is the short version. The World Tennis Number is a free, global rating built by the International Tennis Federation. It runs on a 40 to 1 scale (40 is a beginner, 1 is an elite pro, and lower is better), covers every age and ability, and gives you one number for singles and one for doubles. It updates weekly based on your match results, so the more WTN events you play, the sharper and more accurate your number gets.
Game zONe: play the right events
WTN’s Game zONe shows you the players and events where you will get the most competitive matches, opponents you have roughly a 35 to 65 percent chance of beating. Use it to pick events where you are neither overmatched nor outmatched, and where winning does the most to improve your number.
All ages, all balls, all levels
WTN events welcome everyone. Green ball and yellow ball results both count toward WTN for eligible players, including juniors, and orange ball match play is available too. Events offer flexible formats and scoring, from singles round robins to doubles, so there is a comfortable on-ramp no matter where you are in your tennis journey.
Host WTN events: for coaches, providers, and facilities
Want to run WTN events at your club, park, or school? WTN Match Play lets you host local matches that count toward players’ World Tennis Numbers, and it is free through USTA’s Serve Tennis platform. Set up events in the Serve Tennis admin area, then run them right from the court using the USTA Serve app. It is an easy way to boost engagement, attract new players, and give your community globally recognized results, with no new software to learn.
WTN events and college tennis
Playing WTN events pays off beyond the local court. The Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) has adopted WTN as the official rating of college tennis, and its College Connect tool matches your number against current college rosters to show where you fit.
