Palm Beach Gardens Teams Win at USTA Florida Team Tennis Challenge

Team Tennis Challenges

Champions were crowned in age divisions 10-18 when the Ballen Isles Country Club in Palm Beach Gardens hosted a USTA Florida Team Tennis Challenge on May 16-17, 2015.

The event was “BYOT” (bring your own team), and teams did not need to have prior participation in a local league to participate. All players received a complimentary lunch on Saturday during the event. The USTA Florida-organized events offer kids the camaraderie of team play along with the opportunity for match practice.

The two-day tournament hosted divisions that included 10-under advanced, 11-14 and 14-18, with three skill divisions: novice, intermediate and advanced. All age 11 to 18 intermediate/advanced teams needed a minimum of two boys and two girls. Ten-and-under advanced and all novice teams were gender-blind with a minimum of four players and a maximum of eight players.

Youth Tennis Foundation $250 scholarship recipients were Palm Beach Gardens’ Rory Renzy and Blake Puya (see photo below).
